Who was responsible for printing the first books in english?

His name was William Caxton. The Recuyell of the Histories of Troy was the book. He translated it himself from the French original of Raoul Lef�vre. He started the translation in 1469 and completed translating it in Cologne on 9 September 1471. This was the first book ever to be printed in English.
