Marine DEP drop will it hurt me later to join?

I'm currently a senior and joined the DEP at the beginning of the school year, I asked my recruiter to discharge me from the program a few weeks ago because I wish to attend college first and play football and do the PLC while I'm in college to earn commission and become a marine I've talked to college scouts and they told me PLC dosent interfere with football, I'm concerned because my discharge papers haven't came yet and when I question my recruiter they keep telling me the discharge is taking place and to give it another week that there waiting for headquarters its been 5 Weeks I' want to know if the process to drop from the program really takes this long and will I be allowed to join PLC during college my recruiters when I bring the topic up keep convincing me to go reserve and enlist then commission someone help me out here
