If the US is a republic, why is every president rich before he's elected?

Yes it is a dictatorship. Fascist? Not necessarily unless you could consider the left to be Fascist as well a the right. However that has not always been the case. Before the creation of the Federal Reserve Bank, many if not most all Presidents were of modest means.
